AbstractFocused and time‐limited intervention is an effective method of treatment of persons who have experienced such traumatic life events as bereavement or the personal experience of violence.

The conflict in Vietnam has ceased, but for many veterans the hostilities remain in terms of problems ranging from nightmares to inability to cope with a nonhostile environment. The veterans are beginning to emerge from a postwar underground life-style to seek help; working with them requires special treatment skill and understanding.

The objective: to form classification of stress- associative and post-traumatic stress disorders on the base of analysis of their existing theoretical and empirical studies. Through the use of a content analysis of theoretical and empirical studies, the features of the formation and development of various manifestations of post-traumatic personality stress disorders and combat mental trauma are considered. A holistic classification of post-traumatic stress disorders is proposed, depending on: the variant and stage of development, the type of course, clinical or psychological manifestations, the time of the course, the results and degrees of severity. It has been established that the development of post-traumatic stress disorders affects: the duration of a crisis situation, terrain, primorbid, history of life, the type of individual reaction to the crisis situation itself, the motivation of which the soldier consciously (or unconsciously) goes to war, micro and macrosocium, information effects, the influence of the media, individual experience gained, both practical and theoretical, social and psychological support, the influence of chemical agents (drugs, chemical ix). The final stage of the development of post-traumatic stress disorders may be the formation of post-traumatic personality disorder, as its extreme manifestation

This book is the first practical manual describing a new and successful short-term treatment for traumatic stress and PTSD called Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). The manual provides both experienced clinicians and trainees with all the knowledge and skills needed to treat trauma survivors using this approach, which is especially useful in crisis regions where longer-term interventions are not possible. NET has proved successful in projects in areas such as Kosova, Sri Lanka, Uganda, and Nigeria, as well as in controlled trials in Gainesville, FL and Louvain, Belgium. Three to six sessions can be sufficient to afford considerable relief. Part I of the manual describes the theoretical background. Part II covers the therapeutic approach in detail, with practical advice and tools. Part III then focuses on special issues such as dealing with challenging moments during therapy, defense mechanisms for the therapist, and ethical issues. A series of appendices include further practical aides such as a handout on depression, a drug-dependency questionnaire, and an informed consent form. Moral injury is the profound psychological distress which can arise following participating in, or witnessing, events which transgress an individual's morals and include harming, betraying, or failure to help others, or being subjected to such events, e.g. being betrayed by leaders. It has been primarily researched in the military, but it also found in other professionals such as healthcare workers coping with the COVID-19 pandemic and civilians following a wide range of traumas. In this article, we describe how to use cognitive therapy for PTSD (CT-PTSD) to treat patients presenting with moral injury-related PTSD. We outline the key techniques involved in CT-PTSD and describe their application to treating patients with moral injury-related PTSD. A case study of a healthcare worker is presented to illustrate the treatment interventions.

Post-traumatic stress is observed in people who have been directly exposed to traumatic mental and physical stimuli in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder of systemic reactions. Not only soldiers returning from military missions are affected by it, but also victims of all kinds of disasters, rescuers, providing the former with assistance, people pursuing the stress-related professions, including firefighters, paramedics, as well as fans of extreme sports and people, who have experienced unusual situations, such as death of a beloved person, divorce or a traffic accident. The stress symptoms follow the triggering factor. Reaction of the limbic system, associated with the circulation of emotional state, which takes place in the Papez area, causing a variety of vegetative symptoms, especially the circulatory ones, has a vital role to play. The consequences of post-traumatic stress affect both mental and emotional changes, as well as the changes in dynamic stereotype, and they also manifest indirect effects in the family life of an entity and its immediate surrounding. It is important to provide the people affected by post-traumatic stress syndrome with psychological and psychiatric care. The purpose of this article is to review the available literature data on both the post-traumatic stress disorder and its consequences as well as to focus on the key issues related to the prevention and assistance provided for people affected by the syndrome.
